Alicia Silverstone, Kevin Connolly, and Nick Frost to Star in Dark Comedy “Krazy House”

Nick Frost, Alicia Silverstone, and Kevin Connolly have been cast in the upcoming dark comedy movie Krazy House, according to Kaap Holland Film. The project will be the Dutch writing and directorial team Steffen Haars and Flip van der Kuil’s debut English-language feature.

There are little specifics on Krazy House’s plot. Conversely, a Kaap Holland summary claims that the movie “is about sitcom family and homemaker Bernie (Frost) who practises religion. They force Bernie and his family to demolish the property in pursuit of some old hidden treasure after discovering that the Russian employees at his home are wanted criminals. Bernie must be a man and release his imprisoned family while progressively becoming insane in order to set himself free.” The film Krazy House, which will supposedly be set in the 1990s, recently finished filming in Amsterdam. An ensemble cast consisting of Gaite Jansen, Walt Klink, Jan Bijvoet, Chris Peters, and Matti Stooker will complete the cast.

Together with Haars and van der Kuil, Maarten Swart will make Krazy House for Kaap Holland. Jorn Baars of Kaap Holland and Todd Brown of XYZ Pictures are the movie’s executive producers; the latter company will also be in charge of its North American distribution.

While Krazy House will be Haars and van der Kuil’s first foreign project, the duo has gained some notoriety in The Netherlands. They are well known for their dark comedy New Kids Turbo, which was based on the comedy group they both belonged to. Since then, the pair has worked together on a variety of other Dutch comedic films, including Bro’s Before Ho’s and Ron Goossens: Low Budget Stuntman.

Frost, who called Krazy House “a truly nutty production to be a part of,” is well-known for his multiple roles in comedies, such as his lead role in Shaun of the Dead, in which he worked frequently with Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright. Known for his efforts on Hot Fuzz and Attack the Block, he would reunite with Pegg to co-write and star in the alien comedy Paul. In the upcoming Svalta thriller by Haars and van der Kuil, he will also be seen.

With her iconic lead performance as Cher in the teen comedy Clueless, Silverstone rose to fame as a cultural icon of the decade. The cult favourite has kept its reputation alive, and Silverstone recently played the part again for a Super Bowl ad. In addition to her performance in Clueless, Alicia Silverstone is well-known for playing Batgirl opposite George Clooney in the main role of Batman & Robin. She will act alongside Benicio del Toro and Justin Timberlake in the Netflix thriller Reptile. She has two films, Mustache and Perpetrator, playing at upcoming film festivals.

Connolly’s eight seasons on the hugely popular HBO series Entourage are what made him most famous. He also made an appearance in the show’s theatrical spinoff. His filmography from the theatre includes, among others, Secretariat, Chick Fight, He’s Just Not That Into You, The Ugly Truth, and Hotel Noir. With the short-lived CBS sitcom Friends with Better Lives, he also served as a series regular.
