In her divorce from Morgan Evans, Kelsea Ballerini is being upfront about some of the legal challenges she has faced. The country music diva, 29, gave a special appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast on Wednesday. She talked about her marital issues with fellow musician Evans, 37, and gave her perspective on the current state of affairs with the ex-couple, who finalized their divorce in November 2022.

The “Secondhand Smoke” singer asserted, “Who you married is not who you divorce. As he’s putting out a song about being blindsided, he’s taking half the house that he didn’t pay for.

“So you opted out of a prenup?” asked host Alex Cooper. After pausing, Ballerini affirmed, “I did get a prenup.” “That was somewhat like to alimony or that.”

She recalled taking a flight back after doing some gigs to pack up her possessions from their home, then taking another flight to Colorado to call her manager and attorney.

It has complicated alimony language or they’re saying, “He wants half the house; that’s how they’re reading the prenup,” according to Ballerini.

The singer also recalled stating while on the phone, “Can you explain to me that I currently have an option between [having] public alimony hearings indefinitely or [having] to [give up] half of a house that I bought and he contributed [to], but not equally,” she said. They respond, “That’s correct,” and”

“I then said, “Give him the house.” I’m done,’ “stated Ballerini.

She continued by describing how the circumstance made her feel: “Like s—-. The problem is that it causes me to lose confidence in myself, which is something I still need to work on.”

Evans wrote on Instagram on Tuesday that it makes him “very sad” to hear someone he “loved with all my heart” say things “that aren’t reality and that leave out what truly happened” in an apparent public response to his ex’s podcast interview.

“She is aware that I’m not the kind of guy to discuss those topics in public. I hope it works if this is what she needs to heal “Said he. “All I ask is that you not be rude while you are on my sites. Be kind to one another and don’t be nasty to Kelsea.”

The final sentence of Evans’ essay was “Life’s too brief.”

In August of last year, Ballerini and Evans filed for divorce after nearly five years of marriage. It was on her Instagram Story that she first addressed the breakup, writing, in part, “This extremely tough decision is the consequence of a journey of love, development, and effort that ultimately has come to an end.”

Evans also provided a statement, posting to Instagram the following: “It breaks my heart to announce that Kelsea and I are divorcing after almost five years of marriage. I wish it were different, but regrettably it isn’t.”

In an appearance with the Bobby Bones Show earlier this month, Evans talked openly about how it’s been to get over his ex-wife and deal with the social media uproar that followed their divorce.

The “Kiss Someone” singer stated of the criticism levelled at him following the breakup, “It was really terrible.” “Just you, your feelings, and what you do are under your control. I’ll always be happy that I have wonderful individuals in my life to serve as constant reminders of this and to keep me grounded in this way.”

He also spoke about writing “Over for You,” a candid ballad with poignant lyrics like “How many times did you say you loved me/When it wasn’t true?” It assisted him in processing his feelings following his well-publicized breakup. The musician stated that it was satisfying to do. Just be straightforward and don’t try to hide anything.

He continued, “Having been in that scenario, knowing that it helps other people in that situation, yeah, it’s really a significant deal,” adding that he thinks “vulnerability and personal writing is truly the thing that most generally relates to people.”
