Universal Pictures is releasing “legacy” trailers for each of the other Fast and The Furious movies as they get ready to unveil the first Fast X trailer. In these trailers, movie marketing materials are re-created as if they were created today. Today, it was The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift’s turn to receive the treatment, with a brief commercial featuring Sean (Lucas Boswell) and Han (Sung Kang), who decide to deal with their issues using the only means available to them in their world: street racing.
Sean (Boswell) is forced to live in Japan with his father (Brian Goodman) in The Fast and The Furious: Tokyo Drift in order to elude the authorities after he was engaged in a crash due to his love for racing. Sean makes Takashi (Brian Tee), the city’s “Drift King” and member of the Yakuza crime family, his enemy while in Japan. Sean must work with Han (Kang) to discover a means to outdo Takashi by speeding recklessly. Before moving on to lead the next four installments in the franchise, this was Justin Lin’s first time directing for the series.
Prior to pulling out of the movie over creative differences with Vin Diesel, who was just spotted in a new billboard for the newest installment in the Fast franchise, Lin had been attached to direct the upcoming Fast X. Louis Leterrier was hired to complete the picture when Lin left it; it had only been in production for a week before he left. Several performers from the previous installments of the Fast Saga are returning to play their roles, including John Cena, Jason Statham, and Michelle Rodriguez.
The Toretto family is back in Fast X when they go up against Dante and Cipher (Charlize Theron) (Jason Momoa). In the franchise’s first film, Fast 9, the crew used a rocket automobile to take out a satellite in orbit. It’s impossible to predict how far the crew will go this time to defend the one thing that matters more to them than anything else—family.
