Andy Serkis still waiting for Matt Reeves to reveal his role in The Batman: Part Two

• Andy Serkis will return to play Alfred, Batman’s famous butler.
• The Batman: Part Two is slated for 2025.
• Plans for a sequel might see Alfred returning as Bruce’s mentor.

Like everyone else, Andy Serkis can’t wait to see what Matt Reeves’ The Batman universe has in store. In 2025, Reeves will release The Batman: Part Two, continuing his dark, original take on the Caped Crusader that was a big office success. Andy Serkis will return to play Alfred, Batman’s famous butler.

Nevertheless, since filming won’t begin until November, it will be some time before anything significant is revealed about the picture.

While managing business at Wayne Enterprises, Serkis portrayed a loving Alfred who reared the young Bruce Wayne (Robert Pattinson), taught him to fight, and assisted in his pursuit of The Riddler (Paul Dano) after the death of Gotham City’s mayor.

However, his role was a little more complicated because he never fully supported Bruce’s mission as Batman but stuck by him nonetheless, even though he believed he was to blame for leading Bruce down the path of vigilantism.

He was even willing to conceal the Waynes’ wrongdoing for years before finally telling Bruce the truth because of how much he loved Bruce and the Waynes. Plans for a sequel might see Alfred returning as Bruce’s mentor and working to regain Bruce’s confidence after betraying it by keeping the Waynes’ secrets a secret.

Yet, Serkis is unsure of exactly where the sequel will take him. Although he expressed excitement about reuniting with the group, he added in an interview that he is still awaiting Reeves:

“I know he’s writing, at the moment. I’ve not had many discussions with him about it. I loved working with him on it. It was amazing to go from doing the Apes movies into that world. I think he just did such an incredible job. As you say, it was a very fresh version. And working with Rob Pattinson was amazing. So, I know that the second one is being written, but that’s as far as I know. I don’t know how Alfred plays into that, at all. It’ll be exciting to find out, which I think I will do soon.”
