In response to the question of whether or not Addison’s (Caitlin Bassett) father, Alexander, may make a comeback, Brandon Routh offered his opinion.

The Legends of Tomorrow star, 43, said in an interview with the local US magazine before his debut, which aired on Monday, March 6. “All possibilities exist and I would love to be back if it works for the show,” he said.

In the most recent episode of the popular NBC show, Ben’s (Raymond Lee) most recent leap placed him in 1989 on the same Navy ship as Addison’s father. Since Alexander had previously been blamed for a choice that wasn’t his fault, the time traveler assisted in clearing his name.

Nevertheless, when Ben encountered Richard Martinez (Walter Perez) in the same leap, things quickly changed. The marine expressed gratitude to Ben for aiding him in completing a task during his assignment, which raised the possibility of a deeper mystery surrounding the most recent leap.

As a devotee of the first season, Routh spoke candidly about joining the Quantum Leap ensemble, adding, “It was very cool to be a part of this new lore. Years ago, I’ve had had the opportunity to work with Scott Bakula and so that was my first brush with [the show]. He was amazing and awesome then I got to actually be on Quantum Leap.”

The native of Iowa also explained how, despite being unable to connect with his on-screen daughter, he still managed to film scenes with her.

“It was cool. For me it wasn’t as much of a difference necessarily because I can’t see her but having her presence and knowing who Addison is in the future informs [the experience] a little bit,” he told the media. “Having Caitlin play Addison, that informs the strong and intelligent and full of heart child that I know at three or four. That was helpful in creating that base and grounding it with that energy.”

For her part, 32-year-old Bassett gave a sneak preview of how the program will pick up after Martinez’s unexpected comeback.

“We are digging deeper into the truth of what’s happening around us. There’s obviously powers and pieces in play that Addison certainly is not aware of and Ben forgot,” she shared with the media. “So, he might have been aware of them at some point, but he is not aware of them now. So far that this is the trajectory of the show [and] it absolutely continues to go deeper. I don’t want to say too much more than that but you’ll see it in the next four episodes. It gets very exciting.”
