The “Boston Strangler” video shows Keira Knightley prepared to solve the case
In a new trailer for Hulu’s upcoming crime drama Boston Strangler, Keira Knightley is on the hunt for a killer and won’t take “no” for an answer. On March 17, Knightley and Carrie Coon will narrate the infamous tale of the Boston Strangler and the ladies who unraveled the mystery behind the atrocities referred to as the “Silk Stocking Murders,” which will be streamed on Hulu.
The focus of the present clip is on Knightley’s Loretta McLaughlin, a lifestyle journalist who aspires to take part in the investigation into the peculiar run of killings afflicting the Boston area. We show Loretta presenting her boss Jack (Chris Cooper) with the improbable coincidence that three ladies were killed in the same way during the previous two weeks at what is presumably the beginning of her participation in the case.
Jack doesn’t “see the interest” in following up on any leads, but Loretta is adamant that the deaths must be looked into. Jack naturally chuckles at her request and remarks that the journalist “doesn’t have the experience” to become involved in such situations. Yet in the end, Loretta’s perseverance pays off when her supervisor agrees to let her conduct victim profiles on her own time. An amateur investigator was created in an instant.
While just one of our two main characters was shown in this trailer, Coon will also appear in the movie as Jean Cole, Loretta’s coworker. When things start to become interesting and Loretta knows she’ll need some additional assistance if she wants to solve the case, she turns to Jean, a friend, and peer. The women will continue to defy all obstacles and fight sexism and workplace discrimination throughout the rest of the series in an effort to identify the killer of the murders that have put Boston in a state of panic.
Although it is thought that more than one serial killer and rapist may have been active in Boston during the years of 1962 and 1964, only one individual has ever been apprehended and given the moniker “The Boston Strangler”: Albert DeSalvo. Despite the fact that DeSalvo shared a genetic link with one of the 13 killings linked to the serial murderer, suspicion has always surrounded the case. Many people think that at least one other person, or a “copycat killer,” was also perpetrating the horrifying atrocities at the time. But, the work of McLaughlin and Cole was crucial in bringing the case to light and exposing it for what it was—a series of serial killings and sexual assaults.
Although the identity of the actor who will portray the serial killer DeSalvo in the Matt Ruskin-written and directed production has not yet been confirmed, all indications point to The Suicide Squad actor David Dastmalchian. Alessandro Nivola, Rory Cochrane, Robert John Burke, Jon Lindstrom, Ivan Martin, Morgan Spector, Kris Sidberry, and Melanie Hubert will all have roles in the movie as well.
