ISLAMABAD: The National Institute of Health (NIH) reported Monday 17 new covid infections and one death in the last 24 hours.
The details shared by the institute revealed that 17 new covid cases emerged across Pakistan in the last 24 hours while one patient succumbed to the disease.
In the last 24 hours, 3,399 tests were conducted across the country and the positivity ratio turned 0.50%.
Meanwhile, 29 patients have been in critical condition in different intensive care units in the country.
On the other hand, a sub-variant of omicron XBB is said to have emerged in the country and the Border Health Services have tightened the SOPs at the airports in Pakistan.
Minister for National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination, Abdul Qadir Patel addressing a presser a few days back said that there would be rapid tests and screening of passengers at all airports.
He said that an efficient system with a proper management team was fully functional in the country to remain vigilant and was ready to make an emergency plan to deal with any sub-variant of Covid-19.
