1. Eat balanced meals

One of the most effective ways to control blood sugar is by eating well-balanced meals. A balanced plate should include a combination of complex carbohydrates, protein and healthy fats. Complex carbohydrates such as whole grains, oats, brown rice and vegetables are digested slowly, helping prevent sudden spikes in blood sugar.

Protein sources like eggs, chicken, fish, beans and lentils help slow digestion and keep you full for longer. Healthy fats from foods like nuts, seeds, avocados and olive oil also help stabilize blood sugar levels.
