The Ministry of National Guard Health Affairs has successfully performed Saudi Arabia’s first remote robotic surgery on a patient at King Abdulaziz Medical City in Jeddah.

The procedure was performed using a surgical robot controlled by a medical team at King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh. The operation highlighted the close coordination between the kidney and urology departments at the two medical cities.

The surgery was performed using the KANGDUO SageBot platform. The surgical team in Riyadh controlled the robot with high precision using advanced robotic surgery technology and communication systems.

The achievement marks a major step forward in the use of remote robotic surgery in Saudi Arabia and demonstrates the strong integration among the Ministry of National Guard Health Affairs’ medical facilities.

It is expected to improve the quality and efficiency of health care services while creating new opportunities to perform specialized surgeries between cities without requiring patients to travel.
