Sleeping Migrant workers Run Over by Train in India

Sixteen people run by a freight train in the state of Maharashtra. Indian police have ordered an investigation.

People who died on the track were migrant workers and they had fallen asleep on the tracks.

Special trains have been organized in India for migrants to go to their home villages.

However, tens of thousands of the migrants went on foot due to the ongoing lockdown.

According to the railway officials, workers walked on the road towards Aurangabad and they later walked on railway tracks that lead to Aurangabad.

They got tired after walking for 22 miles. They decided to rest. Workers decided to have rest on tracks assuming that trains would not run due to lockdown.
