The US health expert Dr. Anthony Fauci that the virus will spread if the country starts opening businesses too soon.
Dr. Fauci was addressing a Republican-led committee of the US Senate. He has threatened that “little pikes” will become outbreaks if federal instructions are not followed while reopening.
Dr. Fauci was discussing the White House’s plan to open up America again.
He also declared that the death toll in the US is more than the figure provided by the government.
He said, “The idea of having treatments available or a vaccine to facilitate the reentry of students into the fall term would be […] a bridge too far,”
“Even at top speed that we’re going, we don’t see a vaccine playing in the ability of individuals to get back to school, this term,”
“There is no doubt, even under the best of circumstances, when you pull back on mitigation you will see some cases appear,”
“I hope that if we do have the threat of a second wave we will be able to deal with it very effectively to prevent it from becoming an outbreak.”
“We have many candidates and hope to have multiple winners,” he said. “In other words, it’s multiple shots on goal.”
Other health experts have also agreed to Dr. Fauci’s views and have urged people to keep following social-distancing rules and testing. “What they really want is to know if they are safe.”
