US President Donald Trump has canceled the Republican Party convention in Florida. He cited the coronavirus “flare-up”.

He said,“It’s not the right time for that,” but would deliver a convention speech in a different form.

Some Republican delegates will join together in Charlotte, North Carolina, the original venue for the convention.

During coronavirus briefing in White House on Thursday, Mr. Trump said that he was concerned about the safety of people.

He said, “It’s a different world, and it will be for a little while,” He also said that he “just felt it was wrong” to put attendees at risk.

He said to the media, “We didn’t want to take any chances,” “We have to be vigilant. we have to be careful and we have to set an example.”

The sheriff in Jacksonville cautioned this week that the city is not ready for the political celebration next month.

Democratic Party officials criticized the president over his announcement. According to sources, they will likely to arrange almost entirely virtual convention in August in Milwaukee, where Joe Biden will formally accept the party convention.

A Democratic strategist involved in their conference planning said: “I wonder who will have the better convention – the party who recognized the limitations early on and have been planning for a mostly virtual/digital television production to capitalize on a prime-time audience of millions, or the clowns who keep moving theirs from place to place and have no concrete plan a month out.”

In a conversion released on Thursday, Mr. Biden and ex-president, Barack Obama talked about Mr. Trump’s deflection of blame back in March – “I don’t take responsibility at all” – when asked about delays in Covid-19 testing.

“Can you imagine standing up when you were president, saying, ‘It’s not my responsibility?'” said Mr. Biden.

Mr. Obama replied: “Those words didn’t come out of our mouths when we were in office.”
