Defense Minister of Brazil Fernando Azevedo e Silva has on Monday stepped down from his post, the statement issued by the ministry said.

“I leave with the certainty of a mission accomplished,” Brazil’s Defense Minister said in the note.

He also extends thankfulness to the President for the opportunity to serve and said, “He leaves knowing the mission was accomplished.”

However, no immediate reason for his resignation mentioned by the ministry yet.

Before, Foreign Minister Ernesto Araujo presented his resignation after the country has failed to cope with the pandemic crisis and failed to provide a proper vaccination.

Earlier, the president of a local football club and four players lost their lives in a plane crash in South American country Brazil

The president of the fourth division club Palmas and the four players were travelling in connection with a local championship match.

The small plane flew from the Tocantins to Guyana (about 800 km) but crashed a few minutes after takeoff. The pilot of the plane was also killed in the crash.

The Brazilian Football Confederation has confirmed the postponement of the tournament.

In 2016, 71 people were killed in a plane crash in Colombia. The dead included 19 players from the Brazilian football club Chapecoense. The players were on their way to Madeleine to play a match.
