A petition to expel “Putin’s Girlfriend” Alina Kabaeva gains traction
As the conflict in Ukraine escalates, a petition on change.org has been launched in support of a former gymnast who claims to be Russian President Vladimir Putin’s “lover.” The petitioners, from Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus, are demanding that Switzerland expel the woman, who is said to be hiding in a luxury villa with her three children.
Alina Kabaeva, an Olympic gold medalist, is the former gymnast in question. Several news outlets, including The Guardian, have reported that Kabaeva is Putin’s girlfriend. The Russian President, on the other hand, has never officially recognised her.
Since it was posted, the petition has received over 50,000 signatures.
“It’s time you reunite Eva Braun with her Führer,” the petition stated emphatically.
“Despite the current war, Switzerland continues to host a Putin regime accomplice,” the petition added. It is available in German, French, and English.
The petition comes amid reports that Kabaeva was deported to Switzerland during Ukraine’s civil war.
Kabaeva, dubbed “Russia’s most adaptable woman,” served as a Member of Parliament for Putin’s United Russia Party for six years.

She has been the chairperson of the board of directors of National Media Group, a major pro-Kremlin media conglomerate, for more than seven years. According to The Daily Mail, she has a yearly salary of nearly £8 million.
Kabaeva is rarely seen out and about. She was last seen dancing at the Divine Grace Rhythmic Festival.
Kabaeva won gold in rhythmic gymnastics at the 2004 Olympics.
According to the petition on change.org, it is uniting the people of Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine, which are currently suffering greatly, in an appeal to Swiss authorities.
“The public has just learned that Alina Kabaeva, a Russian political and media figure and former athlete, is hiding the consequences of the Russian Federation’s sanctions in YOUR country.”
It further says that for the first time in modern history, Switzerland has violated its neutrality.
