The Royal Air Force has dispatched a squadron of Typhoon fighter jets to the Ukraine border.

The Ministry of Defence confirmed that jets from RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire are being sent to Romania as part of a “long-standing NATO mission” over the Black Sea region.

The Ministry of Defence announced the drill on Twitter, saying, “The UK is committed to #NATO and European security.”

The four jets, part of the 3 (Fighter) Squadron, are being deployed to the Mihail Kogalniceanu Air Base on Romania’s Black Sea coast, according to the agency.
