Cops intervene after a ‘frustrated’ Ted Cruz clashes with Montana airport personnel
Over the weekend, a “frustrated” Sen. Ted Cruz reportedly got into an argument with airline staff at a Montana airport, prompting police to intervene.
Cruz (R-Texas), wearing a mask, was seen speaking to two United Airlines employees at Bozeman Airport on Sunday after missing the check-in window for his flight.
According to Scott Humphrey, deputy director of Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport, a law enforcement officer was called in to help defuse the situation.
“One of our Public Safety Officers (PSO) was in the ticket lobby and was asked to help a frustrated passenger at the United ticket counter (which is not uncommon),” Humphrey explained.
“The passenger had missed his flight’s check-in window, and re-booking options out of Bozeman were limited due to Spring Break.”
Cruz, according to the Reddit user who posted the video, was “accosting” the two airline employees and “wouldn’t calm down.”
What Cruz said to the airline employees was not immediately clear.
According to the Reddit user, the senator said something along the lines of “Don’t you know who I am?” and repeatedly requested to speak with the manager.
Cruz was booked onto another flight and left Bozeman later that evening after the law enforcement officer stepped in to help, according to Humphrey.
“Our PSO didn’t realise he was dealing with Senator Cruz until it was too late,” he explained.
Cruz’s office did not immediately respond to a request for comment from The Washington Post.
Meanwhile, several tornadoes struck Cruz’s home state of Texas on Monday, destroying dozens of homes and causing damage to a number of schools, according to local reports.
A terrifying video shows a twister ripping through a Walmart parking lot, with a man yelling for terrified customers to run into the store to avoid flying debris.
