In retaliation for the death of a diver, a fisherman poses with the body of a massive shark

This is one of the heinous fishermen who exacted their vengeance on an enormous shark they believe mauled a diver to death in the ocean weeks before.

Victor Estrella Esquer, 56, was killed last month while diving on Tojahui beach in Sonora, Mexico, during an attack.

He was about 10 miles off the coast looking for scallops when the shark ripped off his right left hand.

According to officials in the country, he died quickly as a result of blood loss.

However, in response to his death, a group of local fishermen in the Paredón Colorado community went in search of the animal in question, reportedly comparing it to photos taken at the time of the attack.

On Sunday, the announced their victory and slit its throat. In nearby Benito Juárez, one of the men posed with a massive sea creature.

Over the last three years, the area has been reported as a shark hotspot, and Esquer was attacked by one after entering the water on February 12.

The man had been fishing off the coast when he entered the water and was attacked on the lower half of his body, according to witnesses.

It comes as a shark tracker map has pinpointed dozens of the beasts lurking in the waters off the coasts of the United States and the Caribbean.

Last week, an Italian tourist was mauled to death in the waters off La Piscinita, on the Colombian island of San Andres.

It was only the most recent deadly attack in 2022.

Simon Nellist, 35, from the United Kingdom, died in February after being attacked by a 15-foot great white shark off the coast of Little Bay in Sydney.
