According to a defence expert, Russia deployed hypersonic missiles to warn Ukraine and the west that it “has the means to escalate” the fight further.

According to Dr. James Bosbotinis, a defence and international affairs expert, the Ukrainian army will be unable to defend itself.

“The Kinzhal’s speed puts it beyond any Ukrainian air defence system’s reach, and the launch platforms can launch from ranges beyond Ukraine’s reach,” Bosbotinis said.

Russia’s hypersonic missile, Kinzhal missiles have an estimated range of 1,250 miles.

Kinzhal missiles have a range of about 1,250 miles.

The missile, which travels at 10 times the speed of sound and is unstoppable by conventional air defence systems, was previously dubbed “an ideal weapon” by President Putin.

Although the Kinzhal can carry nuclear weapons, this was a conventional attack.

According to Moscow, it has a range of 1,250 miles and is unrivalled in the West.
