Another Russian general has been killed in Ukraine, as the Kremlin’s forces struggle to advance. Lieutenant General Yakov Rezantsev is Ukraine’s seventh general killed since Russia’s invasion. Rezantsev died during intense fighting at Chornobaivka airfield, a site near Kherson that Russian forces have been using as a command post, according to Oleksiy Arestovych. A Russian soldier is heard complaining to his superior in a call posted on social media by the army: “Here? Rezantsev is in command.

Putin sent troops into Ukraine a month ago, causing concern in other parts of Europe.

Russia has threatened other countries in recent weeks, but this is not the first time.

These countries are all members of the EU, which Ukraine was also considering joining at the time.

Putin allegedly told then-Ukraine President Petro Poroshenko: “If I wanted, I could have Russian troops not only in Kyiv, but also in Riga, Vilnius, Tallinn, Warsaw, and Bucharest in two days.”

If made in these terms, Putin’s statement would be the first time he had discussed the possibility of Russian troops stationed in an EU or NATO member state.

If Putin wins in Ukraine, European Commission Vice President Valdis Dombrovskis told Politico earlier this month that he will likely increase his military ambitions and challenge NATO in the Baltic Sea countries of Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia.

“If we do not support Ukraine, it will not stop in Ukraine,” he said. Clearly, Putin is now in an aggressive war mode, and unfortunately, this aggression is likely to continue in other countries.”

When asked if he was particularly concerned about Moldova, he mentioned the Baltic countries.

Ukrainian MP Inna Sovsun recently told Express.co.uk that Putin will not stop at Ukraine, and that he may target NATO members.

She stated: “We gave up our nuclear weapons in 1994 in exchange for assurances from the United Kingdom and the United States that our security would be guaranteed.

“That was a written promise made by the UK and the US, and they are currently breaking it.
