
At least 17 persons were killed after a petrol truck exploded following a collision with another vehicle in Ogun state, Nigeria on Friday (February 18).
According to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the collision occurred just after 5 a.m. on Friday, February 18, 2022, just before the Isara bridge.
According to Florence Okpe, the FRSC’s spokesman in Ogun, 14 of the victims were burned beyond recognition, and the FRSC was able to identify only three persons.
“While the overall number of individuals engaged is unknown, a total of 17 bodies (dead) have been identified.
“Only one male, one female, and one female kid have been recognized, while the remaining victims were burned beyond recognition and received no injuries,” Okpe added.
She stated that the tanker collided head-on with a Mazda bus bearing the registration number ZT728 KLD.
According to preliminary findings, the collision was caused by a route violation and reckless driving.
