Bedworth incident leaves three stabbed and ten injured

Officers were dispatched to complaints of assaults in Bedworth, Warwickshire, on Coventry Road and Gilbert Close, at around 08:00 BST. Two men and a woman have been stabbed in a town center, while at least ten others have been hurt.

One of the males stabbed is in a stable condition in hospital. He is in his twenties.

The force said a 33-year-old male from Bedworth was detained and remains in custody.

It said that he will be evaluated for mental health issues and that authorities were not seeking any further suspects.

The other two stab victims were treated and released from the hospital; the other victims sustained minor injuries.

According to one woman, she was awakened by loud bangs on her front door and when she replied, a guy slapped her twice in the face and slashed her in the throat with a pair of scissors.

Sheila Corcoran, a neighbor, said the attacks had left her feeling unsafe: “You’re constantly going to wonder now, is somebody going to come and knock on the door?”

Det Sgt Rich Simpkins characterized it as a “heinous occurrence” and expressed a need to speak with anyone else who may have been a victim.

“We know that a number of people were in the area at around the time of the incident and that there may be more members of the public who may have been approached or assaulted,” he said.

The force announced that more police patrols will be conducted in and around the town center.
