GASOLINE PRICES HIT NEW ALL-TIME HIGH
President Biden is expected to announce this summer that the Environmental Protection Agency will allow E15 gasoline, which has a 15% ethanol blend, to be sold in the United States, in an effort to increase Americans’ access to affordable fuel supply amid the surge in gas prices across the nationwide
The Environmental Protection Agency is expected to approve a national emergency waiver. E15 cannot be utilized in most of the country from June 1 to September 15 without the action, according to the White House. Closer to June 1, the EPA is likely to take final action on the emergency waiver.
E15 is presently available at 2,300 petrol stations around the country, where officials claim it may be an “important and more cheap source of energy.”
According to the White House, the waiver will improve fuel supplies, provide more consumers more options for lower pricing, and save American families money. E15 can save a family on average 10 cents per gallon of petrol at current pricing.
A senior administration official said to president’s announcement, would build on recent progress in improving gasoline supplies and providing consumers with “more options, flexibility, and lower gas prices.”
