Elon Musk’s response to William Shatner

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, has been making headlines for his tweets that have shattered the internet since he sealed a $44 billion agreement to acquire microblogging network Twitter.

Musk’s Twitter friendship with Star Trek star William Shatner has sparked a social media firestorm.

Shatner tweeted his wish to be the face of the social media behemoth. “BTW, since it seems to be the latest “thing” on here.

I’m stating that I’m staying on Twitter. Besides, I think @elonmusk is adorbs. Also, full disclosure: I’m trying to pitch Elon to hire me as the face of Twitter. #dumpthebird,”  the elderly actor said on Twitter.

At this point, the tweet has approximately 40,000 likes and over 1,600 replies.

“You will always be my Captain,” Musk said quickly. Shatner is best known for his depiction of Captain James Kirk of the USS Enterprise in the Star Trek franchise, which has a cult following.

According to Bloomberg, Musk has previously engaged in a Twitter spat with US Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez when she sent an oblique reaction to his post claiming that the Democratic Party had been overtaken by extremists.

Musk addressed Democrats in a tweet to his roughly 89 million followers on Thursday, just hours after a cartoon depicting liberals sprinting far to the left since 2008.
