Former United Nation ambassador Nikki Haley was back in Granite State for the first time since 2020.
Once again she was endorsing Republican Matt Mowers for Democrat Chris Pappas’ seat in New Hampshire’s first district.
Haley spoke about the mounting atrocities in Ukraine at hands of Russian President Vladimir Putin at crowded tavern in Derry, she said “It’s an absolute war crime, and the last time we saw this, we saw it when (Bashar) al-Assad used chemical weapons in Syria. This is unthinkable,” Haley added said. “The idea that people are handcuffed, laying on the street, mass graves.”
Haley called Washington to pass tougher sanctions against Russia, particularly in the energy sector. She said “Turn around and sanction the energy companies. That will really stick it to Russia and drain his money. We’ve got to get it done.”
The situation at Ukraine extends far beyond Eastern Europe and believes Congress and President Biden need to do more. Nikki said, “This is a war for freedom, and it’s a war we have to win. We shouldn’t be so arrogant to think this couldn’t happen on our doorstep. We’ve got to fight for the Ukrainians as they are fighting for their freedom and their lives. Putin is a thug and a war criminal. We’ve got to make sure that if we win, we’ll keep every thug and war criminal from ever trying to do this again.”
State department said it will continue to ramp up the pressure on Putin, but it’s not known what steps President Biden will take.
As for Nikki, she brushed off questions about her potential to run for president in 2024.
