Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russia successfully tested the launch of a Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missile.
It is capable of carrying a nuclear warhead, according to him.
Putin said the missile can hit a target nearly 3,700 miles away.
He aims on doing so, as international tensions are increasing from the Russia-Ukraine war.
He added, “The new complex has the highest tactical and technical characteristics and is capable of overcoming all modern means of anti-missile defense. “
Proceeding with, “It has no analogues in the world and won’t have for a long time to come.”
He intends the deployment of the missile will be “food for thought.”
He said regarding countries that could choose to stand up to the country.
“This truly unique weapon will strengthen the combat potential of our armed forces, reliably ensure Russia’s security from external threats and provide food for thought for those who, in the heat of frenzied aggressive rhetoric, try to threaten our country,” Putin said.
Putin has made similar threatening remarks in an attempt to prevent NATO members from interfering in Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
He claims that such action would result in “unprecedented consequences.”
Putin has put Russia’s nuclear forces on high alert.
TASS reported, “The prospect of nuclear conflict, once unthinkable, is now back within the realm of possibility.”
