War in Ukraine may lasta long time
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said on Thursday that the alliance is prepared to defend Ukraine against a Russian invasion in a conflict that might “drag on and persist for months or years.”

War in Ukraine may lasta long time
“We will continue to apply maximum pressure on [Russian] President [Vladimir] Putin to halt the war by imposing sanctions, providing economic and military support to Ukraine, and we must be prepared for the long term,” Stoltenberg said at the NATO Youth Summit in Brussels.
“The situation in Ukraine is highly volatile and precarious. “However, there is a strong probability that this battle may linger on for months or years,” he added.
Stoltenberg also stated that NATO members are preparing to assist Kyiv in transitioning from “old Soviet-era equipment to more contemporary standard-weapons and systems,” but that “additional training” will be required.
The US and a number of European countries, notably the Netherlands and France, have just declared that they will provide Ukraine with howitzers, long-range weapons, to aid in its defence against Russia.
Germany has announced that it will deploy anti-aircraft tanks to Ukraine. This will be an effort to deflect accusations that the government has been hesitant to provide military equipment to the war-torn country.
German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock stated on Wednesday that Germany will provide “training and upkeep” to the Ukrainian military.
Germany had opted not to make public all of the weaponry it had previously provided to Ukraine, according to Baerbock. “We’ve delivered anti-tank weaponry, Stingers, and a variety of other weapons that we haven’t discussed in public,” the foreign minister stated.
In a keynote speech on Wednesday, British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss urged backing for the United Kingdom’s deployment of aeroplanes and other heavy weapons.
“Weapons of mass destruction, tanks, and planes — we’re digging deep into our inventory and ramping up manufacturing.” “We have to do everything,” Truss remarked.
“As a result of our sanctions, Russia has already experienced its first external debt default in a century. “We need to take it a step farther,” she continued.
