British intelligence reported that Ukrainian military had repelled numerous Russian assaults in the country’s east, while President Volodymyr Zelenskiy warned tens of thousands of Russian soldiers were preparing for a fresh operation.

Russian soldiers were also attempting to take control of Mariupol, the southern port city that serves as a link between Russian-controlled areas to the west and east.

“There are tens of thousands of dead, but the Russians are not stopping their onslaught,” Zelenskiy said to South Korea’s parliament through videolink.

For the time being, Russian soldiers have abandoned their attempt to conquer Kyiv, Ukraine’s capital, but they are redoubling their operations in the east. Russian shelling in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions has continued, according to the British defence ministry.

However, it reported in its regular intelligence bulletin that Ukrainian forces had pushed back many assaults and damaged Russian tanks, vehicles, and artillery equipment.

Addressing South Korea’s parliament, he said Russia was concentrating tens of thousands of soldiers for the next offensive. He asked Seoul for any military aid it could provide.

Zelenskiy kept on with his campaign to win worldwide support and inspire his countrymen, stressing that the coming week would be crucial.

After Russia’s invasion, Zelenskiy has urged Western nations to provide greater defence assistance and to punish Moscow with stiffer penalties, including as energy export embargoes.

He also said that Mariupol has been destroyed. Reuters journalists on Sunday saw several Russian tanks heading down a highway in the direction of the city.
