Ukrainian official: Russian forces are “continuously attacking Azovstal steel plant”

Mykhailo Podolyak, an advisor to Ukrainian president, said on Sunday that Russian forces were constantly attacking the Mariupol’s encircled Azovstal steel plant on Easter.

He tweeted, “Orthodox Easter 2022. But right now, RF (the Russian Federation) is continuously attacking the Mariupol Azovstal.”

Podolyak added that the places dwelled by military and civilians, is being targeted.

The forces continue to shell with heavy air bombs and artillery.

Russian President Putin claimed that Russian forces had achieved the liberation of Mariupol, but told his forces not to capture the Azovstal plant.

“RF should think about the remnants of its reputation,” Podolyak said.

He urged the country to announce truce in Mariupol. He wanted them to open the evacuation corridors, and negotiate for exchanging military forces encircled in the city.

The Azovstal steel plant has become one of the last significant holdouts of Ukrainian forces.

The blockade of the besieged city continues.

The steel plant is sheltering hundreds of soldiers and civilians.

They are out of necessities, like, food, water, and energy there.

According to Iryna Vereshchuk, there were about 1,000 civilians, and 500 wounded there.
