A Russian ship carrying Iranian oil cargo seized by US in Greece

The United States held onto an Iranian oil cargo oil on a Russian-worked transport close to Greece, and plans to send the shipment to the United States on board another vessel, sources told Reuters.

Greek specialists last month appropriated the Iranian-hailed Pegas, with 19 Russian team individuals ready, close to the shoreline of the southern island of Evia because of EU sanctions.

They said the boat was appropriated as a feature of EU sanctions on Russia for the intrusion of Ukraine. Notwithstanding, the vessel was subsequently delivered because of disarray about sanctions over its proprietors.

The big hauler, renamed Lana on March 1 and flying the Iranian banner since May 1, has stayed close to Greek waters since. It was already Russian-hailed.

A source at Greece’s transportation service said on Thursday that the US Department of Justice “informed Greece that the freight on the vessel is Iranian oil,” as indicated by Reuters.

“The freight has been moved to one more boat that was employed by the US,” the source added, without giving further subtleties.

The improvement comes after the United States forced sanctions on Wednesday on what it depicted as a Russian-supported oil sneaking and tax evasion network for Iran’s Revolutionary Guards’ Quds Force, even as Washington attempts to resuscitate an atomic arrangement with Iran.
