A woman killed, two others injured after fire ripped through their Wolverhampton home

A woman was killed and two others were injured in a horrific house fire. Overnight, firefighters were summoned to a house in Ettingshall, Wolverhampton.

Three people were rescued from the raging inferno. According to the military, one of the casualties has now died. Paramedics said two more people are still in the hospital, one of whom has major burns. Just after 2.25 a.m., ambulances and fire engines were dispatched to the house.

“Ambulance teams arrived at the site to find a total of three patients,” a West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said.  “One of them, a woman, had to be rescued from the property by colleagues from the fire service.”

“However, sadly it quickly became apparent nothing could be done to save her and she was confirmed dead at the scene.

“A man was treated for serious injuries, including burn injuries, before being taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham.

“A second man was treated for the effects of smoke inhalation before being taken to New Cross Hospital for further assessment.”

The intensity of the conflagration is shown in terrifying photographs captured this morning.

A bedroom window was shattered, and the guttering above had partially melted. Another window has been destroyed downstairs. A charred and destroyed washing machine can be seen through the slightly open front door. The smoke has burned the masonry around the windows.

The death came just two days after a woman was saved from a fire in Tettenhall Road, three and a half miles away.
