Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed of Abu Dhabi stated on Saturday that he will spare no effort to provide all available support to Yemen, praising “the historical links unifying the two nations,” according to state news agency WAM.

Sheikh Mohammed also underlined his country’s support for the newly formed Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council in “doing its national responsibilities toward safeguarding Yemen’s peace and security, as well as achieving its people’s aspirations for development and advancement.”

He made the remarks during a meeting with members of the council and Rashad Al-Alimi, who was appointed president of the council on April 7 after former President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi handed his powers to it on the final day of intra-Yemeni discussions in Riyadh hosted by the Gulf Cooperation Council.

Sheikh Mohammed wished Al-Alimi “success in serving his country and its people, overcoming the terrible circumstances it is going through, and moving forward toward stability and peace,” according to WAM.

According to Yemen’s SABA news agency, Al-Alimi commended the UAE for its “constant support to Yemen and its people in these unusual circumstances,” as well as its active participation in the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen in supporting efforts to establish economic stability.

Yemen, he said, is an integral part of the Arab world committed to “protecting Arab national security” and “is working to strengthen its relations with its partners,” particularly coalition members Saudi Arabia and the UAE, who “shared Yemen’s national battle and central issue of restoring the state and confronting the Iranian destructive mission in Yemen and the region.”

Al-Alimi, who also visited Saudi Arabia on Wednesday and spoke with the king and crown prince, stated that the process of reconstructing state institutions in Yemen and establishing economic stability required the participation and assistance of all countries, according to SABA.

During their meeting at Abu Dhabi’s Qasr Al-Bahr, the two sides expressed pleasantries for the upcoming Muslim Eid Al-Fitr festival, which marks the end of the holy fasting month of Ramadan, and discussed ways to deepen relations and boost efforts to rebuild war-torn Yemen.
