Zelensky tells Davos: send us weapons, stop Russia trade
President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine has expressed his support for Polish President Andrzej Duda’s intention to sign a new good-neighborly pact between Ukraine and Poland.
According to a journalist, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky made the relevant statement at a meeting with members of the press after meetings with Polish President Andrzej Duda in Kyiv.
“I do not want our nations’ relations to be jeopardized.” Ukraine’s relations with Poland are currently one of its top concerns. They are, without a doubt, the most powerful in our countries’ history and I genuinely want us to get agreements that are concrete, substantive, and can only better our lives and strengthen our societies’ relationships,” Zelensky said.
The President of Ukraine believes that such a document should first be prepared by experts, and then the presidents of the two countries should move on to the political element, which involves the coordination of specific concerns.
Duda stated that signing such an agreement between Ukraine and Poland before January 2023, the 160th anniversary of the January Uprising, when Poles and Ukrainians fought against the Russian Empire’s dominance, would be symbolic.
“It’s difficult for me to predict if we’ll be able to make fresh decisions by this time, but I am certain of one thing: we’re in a completely different scenario today, and this situation has given rise to a new picture.” First and foremost, it provides a fresh perspective,” Duda emphasized.
The President of the Republic of Poland proposed that the leaders of the two nations create an agreement with the help of specialists to expedite the implementation of new prospects and chances.
“It would be a huge error if we did not take advantage of this opportunity,” Duda continued.
