According to a court source, French authorities have charged an 18-year-old male with preparing an impending terror act with a knife in the name of Daesh extremists.

Initial investigations revealed that he intended to carry out a terror attack “in the name of Daesh, to whom he had pledged allegiance,” according to the unnamed source.

According to the source, the individual was seized in the Drome region of southeast France and charged in Paris.

According to a source close to the case, the man, from a Muslim household, had adopted extreme ideas and was considered a threat, prompting France’s anti-terror prosecutors agency (PNAT) to launch an investigation on May 19.

On Friday, he was apprehended by police, and a video of him vowing allegiance to Daesh was discovered in his hands.

The source did not specify who or where he intended to target in the attack.

From 2015 to 2016, France experienced a series of militant assaults that killed hundreds of people and forced the country into the highest degree of security alert.

In recent years, there has been no repeat of a major atrocity, but there have been some terrible acts carried out by lone individuals.
