Two Palestinians were apprehended by Israeli security after stabbing three people and fleeing the scene near Tel Aviv last week.

“After a massive manhunt, the two terrorists who murdered three Israeli people in the horrific incident in the city of Elad have been apprehended,” the police, army, and domestic security agency announced.

The two Palestinians, identified as Asad Yussef al-Rifai, 19, and Subhi Imad Sbeihat, 20, were apprehended by special forces using helicopters and other means in a quarry not far from Elad.

The stabbings happened on Israel’s Independence Day, which is celebrated on Thursday.

The Nakba occurred when at least 750,000 Palestinians were brutally evicted from their homes and communities in historic Palestine on the anniversary of Israel’s proclamation of independence in 1948.

Elad, an ultra-Orthodox Jewish town, is built on the ruins of al-Muzayriyah, a Palestinian community ethnically cleansed and destroyed in July 1948.

Al-Rifai and Sbeihat wounded four others with a knife and an axe before fleeing, they said.

The stabbing was the most recent in a slew of deadly attacks in the country’s interior in recent weeks.

It happened at a time when Israeli-Palestinian tensions were already high due to violence and Israeli intrusions into the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound.

“We will continue to chase determinedly those who wish the worst upon us at all times, and we will reach them,” public security minister Omer Barlev stated.
