HANOI: Border guard authorities in Vietnam’s Ha Tinh province apprehended a guy for trafficking 5 kg of crystal methamphetamine, according to Vietnam News Agency.
According to the news agency, a 50-year-old man from the central Nghe An province was captured red-handed transporting the substance from Laos to Vietnam on Tuesday.
He claimed to be paid by a Laotian to transfer the narcotics to the province of Nghe An.
The matter is still being investigated by the authorities.
Those convicted of smuggling more than 600 grammes of heroin or 2.5 kg of methamphetamine face the death penalty under Vietnamese law.
