A shooting at a Mexican hotel killed almost a dozen people and injured numerous more on Monday.
At around 10 p.m., Telemundo 52 reported that at least 11 people were killed and another five were injured at the Gala hotel and bar in Celaya, Guanajuato, Mexico.
About 15 armed men wearing hoods jumped out of two vans and started firing on startled hotel and bar patrons and personnel.
The assailants reportedly destroyed the storefronts of two shops adjacent with improvised explosives while more than 50 shots rang out, according to the site.
As visitors in hotel rooms trembled from the shooting, the culprits hurriedly fled the area.
When many law enforcement agencies got to the site, they discovered four individuals dead in the hotel, two men and two women, as well as another six dead beside the bar, five women and one man.
Ignacio Rivera Peralta, Celaya’s Secretary of Citizen Security, as well as officers and investigators from the Regional Prosecutor’s Office, arrived at the site.
Authorities say they discovered plastic bags containing at least three dismembered remains in the same neighbourhood as the hotel shooting hours before the nighttime attack.
