Poland’s environment minister, Anna Moskwa has demanded “immediate measures” against Russian oil and gas.

She spoke as she arrived in Brussels for an emergency meeting of EU energy ministers.

Today’s agenda is primarily focused on gas stockpiles and supplies, following Gazprom’s decision to cut off Poland and Bulgaria.

However, Moskwa, said that further energy sanctions were a “necessary” and “urgent” step.

“We will support full sanctions on all Russian fossil fuels. We already have coal. Now it’s time for oil and second step is for gas. The best option is to take them all together.”

The European Commission has discussed the prospects on oil embargo.

However, Germany’s Economy Minister, Robert Habeck, admitted previously that such a plan would not be approved by all member states.

Compromises are being considered, notably for countries like Hungary and Slovakia.

In general, Poland has taken a firm approach against Russian sanctions.
