Six rockets fell near an oil refinery in Iraq’s northern city of Irbil on Sunday, according to Kurdistan anti-terrorism police.
The missiles were launched from Nineveh province and landed near the KAR refinery, according to authorities, who did not record any casualties or damage.
On April 6, three missiles were also launched near the refinery, but no one was injured. According to sources in the Kurdistan Regional Government at the time, the refinery is owned by Iraqi Kurdish businessman Baz Karim Barzanji, CEO of the KAR Group, a large domestic energy corporation.
Iran launched a dozen ballistic missiles at Irbil in March, in an unprecedented attack on the capital of Iraq’s autonomous Kurdish area that appeared to target the US and its allies. Only one person was hurt in that attack.
