The Commons Speaker said a Conservative MP accused of rape agrees to stay away from Westminster and requests colleagues not to divulge his identity.
Sir Lindsay Hoyle while the investigation is ongoing after the Tory chief whip persuaded him to do so.
The anonymous MP remains a member of the parliamentary party and hence can enter parliament because his whip has not been suspended.
Sir Lindsay received the assurance a day after the Metropolitan Police announced that the man, in his 50s, had been arrested on suspicion of indecent assault, sexual assault, rape, abuse of position of trust, and misconduct in public office.
He has since been granted bail.
