One person has been arrested following a two-vehicle collision on a 30-mph motorway in Suffolk, involving a sports car.

Police shut down Lindbergh Road in Ipswich, Suffolk, shortly after 07:00 BST on Saturday.

According to one resident, the red sports car, which they characterized as a Ferrari race car, was severely damaged, while the second vehicle wound up on its side.

Both vehicles had been recovered, according to Suffolk Police, and the road had been reopened.

It has not been established whether the individual detained was the driver of either vehicle.

Gary Smith, a resident, reported hearing what “sounded like a racing car rushing down the road” but “dragging its undercarriage along.”

When he went to see what had happened he saw another vehicle on its side.

“[The sports car] looked like a Ferrari Testarossa,” he said.

“When I heard it, I thought it had hit the kerb, not another car.”

The crash, which was initially reported in the East Anglian Daily Times, occurred just yards before the 30mph speed limit was reduced to 20mph.
