A man from Horringer, Suffolk, was sentenced to ten years in jail for raping an infant.
Carl Cox, 33, appeared before Ipswich Crown Court via video link.
The court heard that Cox’s crimes were only uncovered after his phone was seized as part of an unrelated investigation last year – and a number of photos were discovered.
Following the discovery of the images, Cox pleaded guilty to rape at an earlier hearing. Cox said that the rape occurred during a dissociative episode and that he had no recall of it.
Recorder Graham Huston sentenced Cox Friday, saying his crime was “so terrible and depraved” that he constituted a continued risk to the public, particularly children.
The recorder rejected Cox’s account as ‘false’ and said he had only entered a plea due to the overwhelming evidence against him.
He said: “In my assessment, he is at high risk of re-offending at any time.”
Cox was sentenced to 10 years in prison, with an extended period of five years on license.
