The Archbishop of New York talks with Ukrainian refugees in Poland and Slovakia

The Archbishop of New York visited Ukrainian refugees in Poland and Slovakia over the weekend.

The New York Archdiocese and tweets from Cardinal Timothy Dolan’s verified account said.

The visit was intended to show solidarity with the refugees and gratitude to their caregivers, and to express support for local church leadership.

Moreover, to “assert the Christian commitment to support all those devastated by the evils of war, and to raise awareness of the human cost of this unprovoked aggression,” according to the Archdiocese.

Dolan tweeted on about visiting a refugee family being cared for by a Polish parish, a Knights of Malta care center, and a site providing hot meals.

The Archbishop also went to a church in Slovakia and toured “one of the structures that holds and distributes supplies to those in need in Ukraine.”

Dolan will be accompanied on the trip by a delegation of representatives from the Catholic Near East Welfare Association and other church officials.
