The International Criminal Court has dispatched a team to Ukraine to examine alleged crimes

More than 40 investigators, forensic experts, and employees from the International Criminal Court are travelling to Ukraine on Tuesday to gather potential evidence of war crimes and other crimes against humanity.

In a statement, Chief Prosecutor Karim A.A. Khan claimed the team is the largest his office has ever sent on a single field deployment. Khan declared in the days following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February that he would launch an investigation into possible violations of international law.
Despite the fact that Russia is not a member of the International Criminal Court, Khan believes the institution has authority regardless of the nationality of people accused of criminal activities.
