A lawyer representing Rebekah Vardy is questioning Matthew Blackband, an expert who testified for Coleen Rooney.

She inquires about the loss of WhatsApp media files that Rebekah Vardy attempted to upload but failed due to a computer crash.

According to the lawyer, Mr Blackband came to the conclusion that the data had been “manually destroyed” due to a “misunderstanding” concerning the files.

“It’s not a misunderstanding about the media files because the media files are proven to be missing,” Mr. Blackband argues.

The court was informed.

Vardy was able to retrieve the text but not the media files from WhatsApp.

Blackband is questioned if it’s feasible that Ms. Vardy’s phone’s chat history was erased during the exporting procedure.

“There would have to be a corruption of the data base,” he argues.

He continues, “which would prevent WhatsApp from working.”

Mr Blackband goes on to say that the download was complete and that the data was lost during the upload to another platform.

“When you download something from WhatsApp, it creates a zip file,” he explains.

He added that this is the file that will be accessed and evaluated.

Mr. Blackband continues to insist that the files were lost due to “manual deletion.”
