In Colombia, four people died in blast

• An explosion killed four people in the Colombian town of Cartagena del Chaira.
• A driver, a mother, and a three-year-old child were killed.
• The attack was carried out by former guerrilla group the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) dissidents.

A blast killed four people in the Cartagena del Chaira town of Colombia in the Caqueta department, according to the Colombian government.

“At approximately 10:30 this morning, there was an explosion, a terrorist attack against a police patrol that was circulating in the sector. The victims were civilians travelling in a motorcar and on motorcycles,” Edilberto Molina Hernandez, the mayor of Cartagena del Chaira, stated.

A driver, a mother, and a three-year-old child were killed, with a 57-year-old lady succumbing to her injuries later.

As per authorities, two persons were injured and taken to local medical clinics.

The attack, according to Molano, was carried out by the Jorge Briceno Suarez structure of former guerrilla group the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) dissidents.

He also stated that he has ordered the Army and the National Police to launch the appropriate efforts to apprehend and prosecute the attackers.
