Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, who eagerly attended the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations last week, made no attempt to take the show from the 96-year-old, as they promised to the Firm.
On June 4, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex held a low-key celebration at Windsor Castle for their daughter’s first birthday.
Lili’s birthday was on Saturday, but the photo wasn’t released until Monday night, after the Jubilee weekend had over and no charges of taking the spotlight from the Queen could be made.
The timing of the Queen’s great-photo granddaughter’s being released appears to be part of Harry and Meghan’s concerted efforts to maintain a low profile during their Platinum Jubilee visit.
During the Jubilee celebrations, the couple made an appearance at St Paul’s thanksgiving service, but otherwise remained under the spotlight.
With such intense and passionately divided public attention surrounding Harry and Meghan, it’s a challenging balancing act for them. If they appear to be soliciting attention, they will be chastised, and if they conceal, they will be blamed.
