Platinum Jubilee: Over 11 million people watch party at the Palace concert

On Saturday, an average of 11.2 million people in the UK tuned in to BBC One to witness the Platinum Party in the Palace.

Diana Ross, George Ezra, Queen, and Elbow performed in front of a packed Buckingham Palace audience, which included members of the Royal Family.

It drew the BBC’s largest audience of the year, with a peak of 13.4 million viewers.

The final day of the Jubilee celebrations featured a massive pageant in central London and hundreds of street gatherings around the United Kingdom.

Prince Charles and Prince William gave addresses at the event on Saturday evening, with Charles paying respect to the Queen and her seven-decade tenure on the throne.

Its viewership outperforms several other recent high-profile events, including the Strictly Come Dancing final in December, the Eurovision Song Contest last month, and the Queen’s Christmas message, which had an audience of 8.96 million.

The Queen, who is suffering from mobility issues in recent months, was unable to attend the celebration.

It all started with a pre-recorded comedy sketch of her drinking a cup of tea with Paddington Bear, during which they both admitted to carrying a marmalade sandwich about with them.

On the final day of the Platinum Jubilee street parties and celebrations around the UK, an estimated ten million people are anticipated to attend.

Over 85,000 people registered to host Big Jubilee Lunches. On Sunday morning, Prince Charles and Camilla attended a cricket match at the Oval cricket ground in south London.
