According to a witness, a local chief, and a local human rights organisation, fighters thought to be from the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) slaughtered inhabitants and burned down houses in the village of Otomabere in Irumu region, Ituri province.
Jules Ngongo, a spokesman for the DRC army, acknowledged the ADF attack but did not provide a dead toll, saying Congolese soldiers were pursuing the attackers.
