Russia abandons the iconic Snake Island, forcing Putin’s soldiers into an ignominious retreat
Russia has left the infamous Snake Island, which is a humiliating setback for Putin’s forces.
The retreat occurs just days after Ukrainian forces bombarded the important stronghold in the Black Sea.
Despite taking over the island at the beginning of the conflict, Russia’s troops suffered “major losses” as a result of a massive onslaught launched by Ukraine last week.
According to commanders, the Ukrainians launched a “intense strike by numerous troops and techniques of destruction” as they bombarded the enemy positions with rockets, missiles, and drones.
And only a few days later, Russia was compelled to retreat, dealing Vladimir Putin’s war a fatal blow. This action was hailed as “a show of goodwill.”
“As a gesture of goodwill, the Russian military completed their responsibilities on Zmeiny [Snake] Island and removed the garrison stationed there,” the Russian defence ministry was cited as saying.
Vladlen Tatarsky, a pro-Russian war reporter, confirmed: “Our troops have left Snake Island after a valiant battle.
The enemy swiftly fled the last garrison members in two speedboats during the night after our missile and artillery units successfully engaged Snake Island, according to a statement from Ukraine’s southern military command.
According to an image, “Snake Island is currently engulfed in flames, and explosions can be heard.”
“The operation’s final outcomes are being investigated,” the statement continued.”
Ukraine made fun of Russia’s “”Shameful escape from Snake island” is described as a “goodwill gesture”.
Andriy Yermak, the head of the president’s Zelensy Office, tweeted: “KABOOM! There are no longer any Russian soldiers on Snake Island.
“Our Armed Forces performed admirably.”
Since the first day of the conflict, when the Russian flagship Moskva ordered Ukrainian guards to surrender, the soldiers’ infamous response has been “Go f*** yourself.”
Later, the Moskva was lost by a Ukrainian missile attack, which was possibly Vladimir Putin’s worst humiliation of the conflict.
The retreat occurs just days after a supply boat carrying missiles and reinforcements was sunk by Ukraine, which last week blitzed a Russian garrison stationed on the island.
In the past, it was claimed that satellite photographs showed a hit on a Russian Pantsir-S1 missile defence system.
Putin’s hold over the island was under danger, according to a warning from the Russian Military Informer Telegram group, because Ukraine has access to longer-range and more potent missiles.
According to satellite pictures, repeated Ukrainian attacks on Russian installations on Snake Island resulted in the loss of one Pantsir-S1 missile defence system, the station reported.
The remaining [Pantsir-S1 missile defence system] vehicles are compelled to move continually in order to avoid being hit.
“The loss of only one anti-aircraft missile and cannon complex under persistent shelling may imply that the island’s military has thus far effectively repulsed raids on its positions,” the channel wrote.
“However, it is questionable how long this can continue under the circumstances of the Ukrainian armed forces’ growing fire capabilities.”
More than 10 targeted attacks on Russian positions on the island were reported by Ukraine earlier this week.
The attacks on the island were captured on camera.
Ukrainians asserted to have hit a Pantsir-S1 target at the moment.
The Russian withdrawal from Snake Island, meanwhile, would be a step toward enabling Ukrainian grain to enter international markets.
The departure from the island “demonstrated to the world community that the Russian Federation does not prevent the efforts of the UN to organise a humanitarian corridor for the export of agricultural products from the territory of Ukraine,” according to Russian military spokesman Igor Konashenkov.
Additionally, it was asserted that Turkey had participated in discussions with Russia and the Ukraine about grain shipments.
