Local police announced Wednesday that Nigerian police had rescued seven kidnapped individuals from a jungle in the southern state of Enugu.
In a statement, Daniel Ndukwe, a police spokesperson in Enugu, said that police rescued the victims in the Udi region of the state early Tuesday morning.

“The (police) command has launched a discreet investigation to fish out the perpetrators,” he added, adding that the area has been placed under security observation.
Gunmen have killed people in the most populous country in Africa in a series of attacks.
